¡Buenas! Soy Dra. Parker y estoy muy emocionada en compartir este curso con Uds. Yo no soy Latina. Yo no soy hispanohablante nativa. Mi conocimiento de español empezó en la escuela cuando era niña. Hace 25 años que estudio español desde mis días en Minisink Valley School en Nueva York. Me enamoré de la lengua y la cultura. Mi estudio de la lengua continuó en Xavier University of Louisiana y asistí Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine para convertirme en Veterinaria. Hay una gran población de hispanohablantes en Los Estados Unidos, y con mi conocimiento de español muchas veces he tenido la oportunidad ayudar a algunas personas que no hablan nada de inglés- en el supermercado, en el aeropuerto, y ahora en mi profesión maravillosa como Veterinaria. Me siento tan feliz cuando puedo ayudar a otros (los clientes y sus mascotas) tener una vida mas fácil y cómodo porque puedo comunicarme con ellos. Y los clientes me ayudan también con palabras nuevas y otras maneras de decir algo que no sabía.

Este curso es para las personas como yo, quizás no seas hispanohablante nativo, pero todavía se puede ayudar a muchas personas y sus mascotas preciosas con su español y mi objetivo es ayudarlos a tener mas confianza y poder usar su español y no tener miedo porque el mundo necesita personas como nosotros.

Hey! My name is Dr. Parker and I am very excited to share this course with you all. I am not a Latina. I am not a native Spanish speaker. My knowledge of Spanish began in school when I was a child. I have studied Spanish for 25 years since my days at Minisink Valley School in New York. I fell in love with the language and culture. My study of the language continued at Xavier University of Louisiana and then I attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine to become a Veterinarian. During this time I realized that there is a large population of Spanish speakers in the United States and with my knowledge of Spanish many times I have needed to help people that do not speak any English- in the supermarket, in the airport, and now in my awesome profession as a Veterinarian. I feel so happy when I can help others (especially clients and their pets) have an easier life because I can communicate with them. And in turn the clients help me as well with new words and they teach me other ways to say things that I did not know.

This course is for people like me, perhaps you are not a native Spanish speaker but you still can help a lot of people and their precious pets with your Spanish and my goal is to help you have more confidence and expertise to use your Spanish and not be afraid because the world needs people like us!
